S4 E3: Born & Raised

Score: 3 / 3

~6:00 @ Pawnee Today studio

Joan: So Leslie, you're a real native of Pawnee, aren't you!
Leslie: Yes, I was born and raised here, Joan, and I love the town so much I literally wrote the book on it.
Joan: I have it right here. And also in this hand, right here, I have a sticker! Which, when applied, legally determines the newest selection of Joan's book club! Ooooooooh!

(Joan plays with the sticker and book, teasing Leslie that she might put it on.)

Joan: Over here? Back here? Where does it go?
Leslie: C'mon, stick it!

[They go on, eventually talking about the "factual inaccuracy".]

More:
- Leslie tries to withdraw her birth certificate in Pawnee from a woman named Alexis.
- Leslie and Maureen (her mother) talk about her birthplace.
- Leslie goes back on Pawnee Today and confesses to Joan that she was born in Eagleton.

S4 E2: Ron & Tammys

Score: 0 / 0

The only conversations between women are among Leslie, Tammy 1, Tammy 2 and Tammy 0 - all about Ron.

Ann spends the episode with Chris; April spends most of the episode talking to Andy.

S4 E1: I'm Leslie Knope

Score: 0 / 3

- Donna asks Leslie not to raise taxes, but the exchange is short.
- Ann and Leslie only talk about breaking up with Ben and about the many pictures of penises Ann receives.

Season 3 Wrap // Progress report

Season 3 introduces three major different-sex pairings: Andy and April get together, Chris is brought into the main cast and will be on-and-off with Ann, and Ben is brought into the main cast and will begin his relationship with Leslie. That said, there's still plenty of focus in areas not related to romantic pairings, including Ann's career change and the Harvest Festival.

Joan is actually a major force in this blog's effort... anytime she interviews Leslie it's usually about Leslie's alleged faults.

Look how scientific this is! I have a progress report for the blog so far...

S3 E16: Li'l Sebastian

Score: 0 / 3

- Ann and Leslie only talk about Ben and Chris.
- April only really talks to Andy.

S3 E15: The Bubble

Score: 1 / 3

0:00 in Ann's new office at City Hall, filled with balloons.

I'll give this a 1 because the conversation between Leslie and Ann is interrupted but otherwise would pass the test:

Leslie: Hey! Ladies and gentlemen, for the first time ever in her new part time job in the public health department at City Hall, it's Ann Meredith Perkins! Yay!
Ann: Aw, Leslie, this is so nice!
April: I put poisonous gas in one of these balloons, so if any of them pops, you may die.
Andy: No, April, we would all die. Gases fill the volume of whatever container they're in. School.
Leslie: We have activities every hour on the hour for your first day. 10AM, Ann's first day waffle explosion; 11AM, the start paperwork jamboree; and then 12 noon sharp is the inaugural D-Ann-ce party.
Tom: Welcome to City Hall, cupcake!
Ann: How many of you are in here?
Leslie: There's seven. And you have an office mate...

- The first scene where Leslie greets Ann on her first day of work almost passes but their conversation is interrupted by Andy, Tom and Ann's new office mate Stuart. Leslie and Ann don't get in four consecutive exchanges.
- Leslie brings Maureen coffee but they're interrupted by Ben before the fourth exchange.

S3 E14: Road Trip

Score: 0 / 0

- Leslie and Ann only talk about Ben and getting Leslie ready for being on a road trip with him.
- Ann and April talk about being supportive of Andy.

But still, *swoon*.

S3 E13: The Fight

Score: 3 / 3

~5:40 @ the Pawnee St. Joseph's Medical Center

Leslie: Pawnee is looking for a new PR director for the health department and I submitted your name! You have an interview tomorrow at 9 AM.
Ann: 9 AM! / Wow!
Leslie: Yes! I couldn't get it any earlier!
Ann: I- I am-
Leslie: Grateful! You can thank me later...

[This conversation goes on.]

More:
- Leslie bumps into Ann at the Snake Hole and expresses that she hoped Ann would be studying - they fight about many things (only a few of the subjects are their relationships with men).
- Ann and Leslie apologize.

S3 E12: Eagleton

Score: 3 / 3

~4:30 @ Parks and Recreation office

Lindsey (Parker Posey) walks in.

Leslie: Lindseeeey!
Lindsey: Leslie Knope!
Both: Hiii...!
Lindsey: Has it really been five years?
Leslie: It has! You look amazing!
Lindsey: Thank you, this place hasn't changed a bit! Still lovable but grimy.

[Their conversation goes on - Leslie introduces Lindsey to Ben and Ann.]

More:
- Throughout the episode, Leslie and Lindsey discuss parks in Pawnee, their history, each others' looks, waffles and the new wiffle ball league.
- Ann picks Leslie up from the holding cell in Eagleton and they talk about Lindsey.

S3 E11: Jerry's Painting

Score: 1/3

~9:20 @ Chris Traeger's office

Marsha: Why am I upset? Let's start with government-funded animal porn.
Leslie: I don't think that's fair.
Marsha: I want it destroyed, and I want a statement from this office apologizing for an obscene depiction of bestiality.
Leslie: Bestiality! It is a picture of a centaur: a beautiful half-person, half-horse.

[This conversation goes on a bit longer.]

More:
- Marsha and Leslie speak again about destroying the painting, and one more time about the new rendition.

S3 E10: Soulmates

Score: 1* / 3

~5:00 in Leslie's office

Ann: Hobbies.
Leslie: Organizing my agenda. Wait - that doesn't sound fun. Jammin' on my planner!
Ann: Favorite place.
Leslie: Upstairs there's this mural of wildflowers, and I love to sit on this bench in front of it.

*The main thrust of this episode is Leslie's foray into online dating. She and Ann have several conversations that are all about a wide variety of subjects (see above) but they're ultimately motivated by her hope to meet men.

More:
- Ann tests Leslie's cholesterol, but this is interspersed across a conversation about online dating.

S3 E9: Andy and April's Fancy Party

Score: 1 / 3

April: Hey.
Leslie: Don't worry, I'm not gonna say another word. This is your day.
April: I just wanted to say... that... I'm really glad you're here, I think you're awesome, and I love you.
Leslie: Aww...

[This passes IF you accept that "hey" and "aww..." count as lines of dialogue. I'm willing to pass it because, if you squint your eyes, some of the below conversations would pass.]

More:
- In several scenes, Donna gives Ann advice about singles' night and her attitude. One could argue that these are conversations about men, or that they're about Ann's confidence.
- Leslie tries to persuade April not to get married so soon. One could (and probably should) argue that this is a conversation about Andy, or that it's about April's carelessness.

S3 E8: Camping

Score: 3/3

~1:32 @ Parks and Recreation office

April: What portion of this camping trip will take place outside?
Leslie: All of it.
April: Pass.
Leslie: You can't pass. It's a mandatory work retreat.

More:
- Leslie invites Ann to join the camping trip (although it is to take her mind of Chris).
- Donna proposes a poodles-only dog park to Leslie (although this exchange is only three lines).
- Leslie admits to Ann that she doesn't have any ideas and they strategize.
- April complains to Donna about the Quiet Corn B&B

S3 E7: Harvest Festival

Score: 2 / 3

~7:30 in @ the Harvest Festival

Leslie walks Joan through.

Leslie: Now, the festival is spread throughout the town, but the centerpiece is the carnival - and over here is Indiana's largest corn maze.
Joan: Wow - is that Pawnee corn or Eagleton corn?
Leslie: Pawnee corn. And it's organic. Over here we have our beautiful Ferris wheel...
Joan: Beautiful - but deadly. When was the last time this giant wheel of death was inspected?

[Ben is with them and interjects once but ultimately this whole conversation is about the festival attractions.]

More:
Donna and Ann talk about how Ann is doing - but mostly in relation to her recent break-up with Chris and her fling with the "dehydrated" guy.

S3 E6: Indianapolis

Score: 2 / 3

~ 3:53 @ Ann's house

Leslie is picking out her outfit for Indianapolis; she holds up a blouse.

Leslie: This?
Ann: That would be good!
Leslie: But does it say, "Hello general assembly I've come to Indianapolis to accept your commendation"?
Ann: As much as any one dress could.

[Ann changes the subject to Chris after this.]

"Skywriting isn't always positive."

More:
Leslie drives Ann home from Indianapolis. After she goes through a laundry list of (fucking hilarious) break-up anecdotes, the subject changes to the commendation.

S3 E5: Media Blitz

Score: 1 / 3

~16m 13s @ Pawnee Today

Joan: Hello, and welcome to Pawnee Today; I'm Joan Callamezzo. Today's guest is Leslie Knope who's here today to tell us how this year's Harvest Festival is going to bankrupt the city!
Leslie: Well, Joan, actually there's a lot of false information flying around. The Harvest Festival-
Joan: Jumping right in. That's rude.
Leslie: I just want everyone to know what an extraordinary event this is going to be.

[The conversation shifts to being about Ben, and then he enters.]

Shauna interviews Leslie - it begins with Leslie laying out puns about the Harvest Festival but Shauna quickly changes the subject to Ben.
