The Rules

On this blog, Lauren Alexander and MJ Halberstadt will visit each episode of Parks & Recreation and assess to what extent it passes the Bechdel test. You may recall that a movie/show passes if it contains a scene in which:
  1. two women with names
  2. talk to each other
  3. about something other than a man.
For our purposes, "two women" can be two or more; "talking to each other" will consist of dialogue in which both women speak (in words) twice; "something other than a man" may be a subject that affect a man but is not one or more men; and we'll only transpose the first instance of Bechdel-passing dialogue.

The grading scale is as follows:

0 = Knope, it doesn't pass.
1 = If you squint your eyes and interpret it this way, maybe...?
2 = Passes.
3 = Passes several times over.
